Five years in a flash (Milwaukie children's photographer)

When I was pregnant, my dear friend got me a sign that says, "I met this guy, he kinda stole my heart, he calls me mom." It was very cute. But then I had my son and the words slapped me in the face.

Moms of boys know.

Henry is turning 5 this week and my husband and I both jokingly call him the man of our dreams. He's goofy, honest, sweet, sensitive and has the comedic timing of a stand-up. He tells me I'm the most beautiful woman in the world and suprises me at least once a day with how observant he is. He is a deep thinker and a ball of kinetic energy.

He loves nothing more than to run and show everyone how fast he is. He says certain shoes make him faster than others. Maybe I need to buy him some slower shoes to keep him from growing so fast.

Henry, you have completed our family and made us feel whole. We love you more than words can say. Happy birthday to the fastest kid on the block!

Cute costume shoot featured in Metro Parent magazine (Portland child photographer)

The awesome folks at Metro Parent magazine reached out to me again to take part in a fun photo shoot. You'll remember my son was featured on their cover a few months back, and it was a fantastic experience all around.

The idea for this shoot was to take items that parents are likely to have around the house and create costume ideas. I loved the idea because I love Halloween and dressing up, and I am also a huge fan of anything that takes the stress out of a holiday.

I found a beautiful natural light studio we could rent in Southeast Portland and the whole team from Metro Parent showed up to wrangle kids, outfits, the freight elevator and my reflector. It was so nice to partner with them and have so many extra hands on the set. I felt especially pampered this time around because as a longtime journalist, this was one of the first time I didn't have to write the feature that accompanied the photos. I didn't even write captions! (Great job on both accounts, Denise!) Click here to read the article

The feature turned out lovely and I am left feeling super grateful for the chance to work with this wonderful group. Scroll below to check out some super cute kiddos!

Happy Halloween!
