Hi, I’m Jessie.

Despite the fact that I spell it the “girl way,” my name has caused some gender confusion from time to time. (Ask me to tell you about my high school graduation some time.) So to be clear: Yes, I’m a lady.

I’m also a wedding and portrait photographer serving the Portland area. And I love what I do.

A lifelong journalist, (no really, I took notes on what my dolls were saying) I fancied myself a writer who also took pictures until an editor turned to me a decade or so ago and told me my photos were really good. He started sending me out on photo assignments and it was trial by fire. Literally. My first gig as a photojournalist was catching the action inside a burning house while firefighters practiced putting it out. It’s called a burn to learn, and what I learned is that when firefighters say “get down,” they mean business.

I continued reporting and taking pictures and I really cut my teeth and honed my style when I served as the sole photographer, writer and designer for a monthly newspaper in Southwest Portland for three years.

In recent years I have found that my true passion is for portraiture. I love getting to know people, and I find it so satisfying to make them look and feel their best.

These days I live in Milwaukie with my BFF husband, an adorable muse of a daughter, a ball of sunshine baby boy and our loveable mutt Baxter, who still jumps up on our guests after seven years of me respectfully asking him not to. I love to go out dancing (especially to ’80s night), I’m kind of obsessed with Tina Fey, and my guilty pleasure is reading “Entertainment Weekly” from cover to cover each week.

What else do you want to know? Give me a call, send me an email or be a friend/fan on Facebook. I’d love to get to know you a little better too.
